Two Years with Mia

Today is the two year anniversary of when we held Mia for the first time, the day she officially became a part of our family. She really became a part of our family the moment we first saw her picture on our computer screen.

Mia's referral came as a complete surprise to us. We had only been on the waiting child list with our adoption agency for three months and we were not expecting a referral so soon. They called us at 2:30pm in the afternoon, I was asleep because I had worked the night shift. Chris woke me up and said, "I think you might want to take this call". It was our family coordinator from AWAA, saying "we have a little girl here we thnk you my be interested in". She then went on to explain Mia's special needs. You can imagine how fast out hearts were beating - what was happening was this our daughter she was talking about?? She then emailed us her picture, I can't explain the feeling we had as we sat there waiting for her picture to pop up on the screen, such excitment, and nervousness, and then there she was - our beautiful daughter. There was no question in my mind as soon as I saw her that she was ours. She was destined to be a Yeatts.

Mia was 8 mo when we got her referral, and 11 mo when we went to China to adopt her. That was the longest 3 mo of my life. We sent her a care package, prayed for her every day, and we were completly consumed with plans to go to China and bring her home.

We traveled alone to China, not with a travel group from our agency as there was no one else going when we were ready to go. We could have waited a few weeks and gone in a group, but we weren't about to wait one second longer than we had to, to be united with our daughter. So we formed our own travel group. Both our sons, Benjmain and Ethan came with us, plus my mom came.

The trip was an amazing experience, the highlight of coarse was fineally being united with our daughter.

This day has been a day of remembering all that has happened over the last two years. Mia is such an integrated part of our family, we can not imagine life without her. The love we feel for her is unmeasurable. Her brothers adore her, and love her so much. It brings such joy to my heart to see how they have taken on the roles of big brother and protector towards their sister. We thank God for her every day.

Snow Day

We have not had any real snow here in Richmond for 5 years so you can imagine how thrilling this was for the kids. We ended up with 6 inches. It was one of those perfect days, playing with the kids, hot chocolate, a warm fire - who could ask for more!! School has been closed for three days - I am not sure which is more exciting :)

Taz's first time feeling snow. He wasn't sure what to think, especially when it started sticking to his legs.

Ahhh, hot chocolate and a warm fire
